Remote Access & Monitoring
View your premises live from anywhere, on any device.
What this actually is
Recording footage is only half a security system. Remote access turns it into something you can act on — live views on your phone, alerts when something moves in an area that should be still, and recorded clips you can pull up and share without going to the recorder. It is what makes a camera system useful when you are not at the property.
How the job runs
- 1
Recorder goes online
The NVR or DVR is connected to your broadband. Modern recorders use a peer-to-peer service, so there is no need to open ports on your router or pay for a static IP address.
- 2
Devices are paired
We register the recorder to your account in the manufacturer's app — Hik-Connect, EZVIZ or DMSS depending on the hardware — and add the phones and laptops that should have access.
- 3
Alerts are tuned
Motion zones and detection rules are set so you are notified about people at the door, not leaves on a tree or headlights sweeping a wall. Badly tuned alerts get muted within a week, so this step matters.
- 4
Handover
We sit with you and walk through live view, playback, clip export and sharing access with family or staff, so the system is genuinely usable rather than something only the installer understands.

The choices worth understanding
Local recording
Footage stays on the hard disk in your recorder. There is no subscription and no upload, and the full retention window is available. The trade-off is that the recorder itself needs to be somewhere secure.
Cloud clips
Short event clips are copied off-site, so evidence survives even if the recorder is stolen or damaged. Storage is usually a modest subscription and it complements local recording rather than replacing it.
Smart detection
Cameras that classify what they see can alert on a person or a vehicle and ignore everything else. On sites that were previously drowning in false alerts, this is usually the single biggest quality-of-life upgrade.
Straight answers
Do I need a static IP or port forwarding?
No. Current recorders connect through the manufacturer's peer-to-peer service, so the app finds your system without any router changes. That also avoids exposing the recorder directly to the internet, which is the safer arrangement.
How much internet data does it use?
Recording happens locally, so the connection is only used when you are watching or when a clip uploads. Casual daily viewing is modest; if you plan to stream several cameras for long stretches, we will size the stream quality to your connection.
What happens if the internet goes down?
The recorder keeps recording. You lose live remote access until the connection returns, but nothing is lost from the footage itself, and the recordings are all there when you next open the app.
Can several people have access?
Yes. We can add multiple users and, on most systems, limit what each one can see or do — useful when staff need live view of a shop floor but not the ability to delete recordings.
